Overview

Scoob Magazine is a couture magazine based on the TV show Scooby Doo, Where Are You! The show is a Saturday morning cartoon about four teenagers and their pet Great Dane solving mysteries committed by supposedly supernatural creatures. The magazine tells the story of a descendant of the gang moving into an old, abandoned mansion to open a detective agency, all while discovering something otherworldly along the way.

All creative direction and execution were self-directed.

Approach

A physical mood board was created to show the inspiration behind the magazine, including the colors, patterns, and type eventually included. Styling from the late-60s and early-70s featured heavily in the spreads, as well as props and staging based on the old mansions often in the background of the original cartoon. The magazine also contrasts dramatic posing and fun typography to show a balance between spooky and fun elements, similar to the original show.
